Afraid to forget
Hi, I hope you are doing well and staying safe.
I can’t believe it’s December, yet here we are. In my last letter, I said I wouldn’t hold my breath about 2021, in an attempt to release the pressure of January 1st and the fake idea we would be redeemed somehow and how we should challenge this idea of running our lives in calendar years as if we are passing phases on a video game and I heard from so many of you - thank you for writing. I wanted to leave you today with a poem I wrote a while back, it's about our capacity to live beyond fear, beyond this tight grip. It's about possibilities we keep trying to forget. I feel this is a good time to share. This is my last letter of the year, so I wish you a restful, quiet, easy and free of suffering end of the year. I hope you and your loved ones are healthy and safe and to those affected by covid, my heart goes out to you.I hold you in my heart. I’ll be back soon!
With love,
Mari
AFRAID TO FORGET
Do you really think you weren't made for this?
Do you believe you don't have somewhere inside of you a home to shelter in?
Do you not trust that your legs are capable of crossing this bridge?
To stand between then and there.
Are you certain your strength isn't immense?
Just like the ocean that held you while you learned how to float.
Do you really feel you are doing this all alone?
Despite the sound of the hummingbirds at your window,
the changing colors of the sky,
the leaves turning golden dancing with the wind.
Maybe you do, you know.
Stillness is telling you and this time,
you are fully here to listen.
